My Grandfather's Almost Went Blind, I Wondered If the Same Would Happen to Me

I have got a cataract, no big trade you might say, but it was a large concern to me, and disquieted me greatly.

I dwell in the state and one of the things I bask is taking my domestic dog for a walking in the early evening, the air is cool, the sky is washed with colour and life is good, at least it used to be. Each twenty-four hours as I'd walk near a peculiar country and glimpse to my left, I noticed that there seemed to be a fog in presence of me. No nil out of a Sir Leslie Stephen King novel, just a spot of cloudy vision. At first Iodine tried cleaning my glasses, but that didn't work out the problem; so I decided (after procrastinating for a bit) to travel and see my oculus doctor.

"June," he said with a warm down place accent, "you've got a cataract girl." I didn't cognize whether to shout with joyousness or hang my head, see my grandfather had gone nearly unsighted from cataracts and I worried if the same would go on to me.

"Not to worry", he smiled confidently, "cataract surgery is one of the most common surgeries in America, we'll have got you in and out in a day."

Okay, good adequate and I was prepared to travel forward with the (relatively) minor operation, I certainly did not desire to lose my vision and those cool eventide walks with my pup. Initially I was worried about being saddled with thick "coke bottle" spectacles like my grandfather had to wear, but I was told that those spectacles were a thing of the past and that I should soon being seeing better than I had before.

What I learned from all of this (I've had the surgery by the way) is the importance of taking good attention of your eyes and I thought it my duty to go through on what I've learned.

Years ago I had a friend who loved the sun, every twenty-four hours the sun shined; she was laying out getting a tan. When I saw her 10 old age later not only was she tired looking and wrinkled, she needed cataract surgery in both eyes. Thanks to modern medical specialty she was able to maintain her sight but it made me recognize how of import it is to protect our eyes from the noxious ultra violent radiation of the sun. Most of cognize to have on sunblock for our skin, but we should also have on a good brace of dark glasses that block the noxious beams of the sun. I am not for a minute suggesting you remain indoors (I don't) but protect yourself, the sun is a life giving force, however it can also be deadly. Just utilize some good common sense.

With all the good information there is about becoming and remaining a non-smoker, there are still those who go on to "puff, puff" the twenty-four hours away. I'm not here to be your judge, rather to counsel you that not only can smoke injury your lungs, it can also rush the development of cataracts and in some lawsuits macular degeneration.

FACTOID: Macular devolution is a status where there is loss of vision in the centre (the macula) of your vision.

If you are currently a smoker, seek ways to stop, there are multiple stop-smoking web land sites easily found. If you don't smoke then please, don't start. It might look like just the thing to do, but believe me it's not.

I bask a spot of vino with dinner, so I'm not one to prophesy against drinking, but all things in moderation. We're not discussing alcoholic beverage addiction in this article, simply the fact that consuming alcohol can dehydrate your system resulting in "dry eye". Certainly you can utilize oculus drops, and many modern times I'll squash a driblet or two during the long hot summertime days, however when your ain organic structure is in good physical health, no oculus driblets are necessary.

Eat healthy and with an oculus to proper nutrition and your blood refined sugar will most probably stay in proper balance. However if your years are filled with java and fast food, (as mine sometimes are, I'm not perfect) your blood refined sugar may go elevated. When this haps with some people you might be flirting with diabetes, and diabetes can do blindness. I'm not attempting to be over dramatic, just advising you to eat healthy and mistake on the side of caution, hey level McDonalds have a healthy bill of fare nowadays.

I spoke of being over dramatic above, but the followers is worthy of a cornet blast and that is high blood pressure level and cholesterol. I'm going to be honorable and say, "Yes Iodine tin stand up to lose a few pounds", okay, there I said it, I'm no different than you and I'm concerned that being corpulence can certainly take to high blood pressure level and that can speed up a very serious oculus job called glaucoma.

FACTOID: Glaucoma, if left untreated, can take to blindness. Different people will respond to increased intraocular pressure level in different ways, bank check with your physician or wellness attention professional person to be certain.

I'm certainly not a doctor, simply person who basks living life to the fullest, and I'm trust you make too. My suggestion (stated as a put person) is to dwell healthy and if you're having any wellness related problems, see your physician or wellness attention professional person ASAP.

Right now, as I compose this, I'm glancing at a exposure of my granddad. He's smiling at me and I trust that somewhere in someway he cognizes that the journeying he walked had an influence on my life. The gift of sight is priceless, take attention of your eyes.
